Florida health insurance

Health coverage guidance for Florida.

Florida individuals, families, contractors, and business owners often need more than a headline premium. Location, eligibility, providers, prescriptions, timing, and total financial exposure all belong in the conversation.

Prepare for the comparison

Four details that shape a Florida coverage review.

01

ZIP code and timing

Your Florida ZIP code and desired effective date determine where the search should begin. A move, loss of coverage, or other life event may also affect timing.

02

Doctors and prescriptions

Prepare the providers, facilities, pharmacies, and prescriptions that matter. Verify each one against current information for the exact option.

03

Premium and total exposure

Compare the monthly premium together with the deductible, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket limit, exclusions, and network rules.

04

Marketplace and other paths

Depending on your situation, the conversation may include Marketplace coverage and other available paths. No category is automatically right for everyone.

Where Florida residents enroll in Marketplace coverage

The official Marketplace for Florida is HealthCare.gov. Financial help to lower premiums is only available through the Marketplace.

What is changing for 2027

  • Florida's Department of Financial Services tells consumers to buy only from licensed insurers and to verify both the company and the agent's license before buying.
  • The Department of Financial Services reports that no insurers offer small-business (SHOP) Marketplace plans in Florida for plan year 2026, so small employers compare other group options.
  • The enhanced premium tax credits expired at the end of 2025. For 2026 and later, the original ACA rules apply: help is generally available for household income from 100% to 400% of the federal poverty level, and there is no cap on repaying excess advance credits.
